Supporting Military Families Through Advocacy

Connect with resources, advocates, and support networks designed specifically for military families.

Our Mission

Military life comes with real challenges - frequent relocations, confusing benefits, long waitlists for childcare, inconsistent access to mental healthcare, and limited support for spouse employment. The resources that exist are often hard to navigate or disconnected from what families actually need. Families are left searching for answers that should be easy to find, and the burden of making things work falls entirely on them.

Military Families Forward combines lived experience with policy expertise to create practical, durable support for military families. The focus is on building a connected network—families who understand the systems they live within and have the tools to navigate and improve them.

"This isn't about generic resources. It's local chapters and community-led support grounded in real life."

Our Approach

This isn't about generic resources. It's local chapters and community-led support grounded in real life. The model focuses on what policies mean day to day—and how families can help each other respond. No vendors, no sales—just space for conversation, learning, and connection.

Family readiness groups once served this purpose —connecting families, building trust, and offering support rooted in shared experience. As they've been phased out or absorbed into formal command structures, the relational glue that held these communities together has started to disappear.

A lot of the relational glue that previously held these communities together has started to disappear. People don't just want information - they want community. They want a place to ask questions, share solutions, and be taken seriously.

It's the kind of relational infrastructure often missing from organizing that feels transactional or extractive.

What Makes Us Different

Community-Centered

This is church-lady organizing in the best possible sense: phone trees, meal trains, shared spreadsheets, and policy literacy. It works because it's grounded in trust, community, and shared responsibility.

Practical Focus

Kitchen table issues—childcare, housing, healthcare, employment—aren't side issues. They are the foundation of military family readiness and well-being. These are the issues that determine whether a family stays.

Empowering Families

We want people to feel empowered, that means giving families the knowledge of how policy affects their daily lives—and how to respond. Our model is simple: provide clear, relevant information, foster real community, and offer practical tools that help families take action. We're not trying to do everything. We're doing what we know works: bringing people together, translating policy into daily life, and making it easier for families to show up for each other and speak up for themselves.

We're not interested in visibility for visibility's sake. We care about results. That means giving families the knowledge and support they need to navigate systems, fix what's broken, and build collective power.
